   I give you some spots . Hope to help you.
   In Athens don’t miss :
   1.visit Parthenon and Acropolis
   2.walking in Plaka,
   3.a visit to Cape Sounion to see the Poseidon temple and the sunset,
   4.one day (or two days) cruise in Saronic Gulf islands(Aegina, Poros, Spetses and Hydra),
   5.National Archaeological Museum, Cycladic Art Museum, War Museum, Byzantine Museum, Benaki Museum
   6.One day tour in Delphi (the center of Earth)
   If you have time and money
   7.go to Thessaloniki for two days (don’t miss Vergina)
   8.or to to Myconos island for swimming and clubbing (all day and night) (except clubbing visit the island of DILOS an unique island)

   there is a bus in the center of Athens that is for sightseeing. Its number “400″ and you can find it at Patision street and Basileos Hrakeiou. It’s right next to the archaeological museum which you might like

   I wholeheartedly recommend buying at least one tour book before you leave. I always use the Fodor’s Gold books because they give honest reviews of places, great stops for food, walking tours you can do on your own, hours and costs to many attractions, and fabulously helpful maps. I also usually buy a local guide book/ city pack as well (Athens for you). I couldn’t find a link to one, and I don’t know that there is one for Athens, but I always find mine at my local book store.

   I visit Greece about every 2 years (we’re going in July this year).    Of course you’ll want to visit the Acropolis. For great shopping visit the Plaka in Athens. It’s walking only and you can find a lot of great shopping for yourself as well as souveniers. Don’t be afraid to bargain with the merchants. Also there are a lot of wonderful restaurants in the Plaka. You could spend at least one whole day just shopping and walking around.
   Be sure the visit the port city of Piereas – it’s really beautiful. Piereas is also where you’ll need to be to get any ferries/boats to the islands. Another place to visit by the sea is Sunion. Also, while in Athens, don’t miss seeing the changing of the guards in front of the Parliament building.
   For around the city there is now the Metro which makes it easy to get around. If you want to go outside the city take a cab. August is still VERY hot and humid in Athens, so be prepared with the appropriate clothing. Most Athenians take their vacation during July/August to escape the heat.
