How will technology influence socializing in the next 20 years?
I already have a few ideas so what I really need are references to opinions on some futurologists. Quotations will also be helpful.
I am not psychic…but I only see it getting worse.
All technology has done is hinder the communication process. The kids of today rely so heavily on technology to accomplish even the simplest of tasks. We are so deep into “technology” mode that people can barely carry on a conversation. Communication has greatly suffered because of this. Communicating is all through text, email, myspace, etc.
People would rather send an email or text instead of taking a few extra seconds and actually TALK to a person.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the convenience technology has had to offer…but at what expense?
Well since technology started taking off people relied less and less on the “telephone”. but while people do rely almost too much on texting and email, i think in the future we will start to revert back to real-time conversations. We are starting to invent phones where you can actually see each other when you are talking. So when you are in the kitchen standing around you can have a conversation with someone on the counter and glance at them as you speak. Almost as if they were there. Who knows, maybe in the future this can happen on cell phones. I mean 3G internet on cell phones was a big breakthrough and they have never stopped improving before so we know they wont stop now.
To be direct, i think we will see more visual communication, texting will become old, because think of how big web cams are right now for computers. I dont see this going away.
