wenn I travel I always get a book from lonely planet or the rough guide. maps, adresses were to eat, drink, how to travel, were to sleep. prices etc. are in it. Lonely planet has also a site on the internet, but the book has more info.
amsterdam;http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/

the Netherlands;http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/

Sorry the internet adress is to long for yahoo answers, google for lonely planet Amsterdam or lonely planet The Netherlands.
the official site of the tourist info is (vvv = Dutch for tourist info)http://www.amsterdamtourist.nl/
frommers, rick steeves, lonely planet are all good guides. there is also an Amsterdam guide that you should pick up once your there in any local coffee shop. it will tell you where everything cool to do is, all the best places to eat, sleep, smoke, trip, hang out, see stuff, all the best deals too. its small – about the size of your palm, and has a road map at the back too. thats the one ive used the most.
Check out Rick Steves’ web site. He is the author of the best selling guide books in the US. They contain very down-to-earth advice and sites to see.
Here is a link to Rick’s web page about Holland and Belgium:http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/destinati…
