New techs like new cars, electronics, anything new to the market!
Im hungry for new facts and interesting forums to read. Please post websites and such!
the OLED tv’s , Sony has them coming out soon , they are televisions which are only 3mm thick and have a much better picture quality than LCD tv’s, but they are very expensive, i read a 17 inch tv would cost about £800
Stereoscopic space telescopes which act like giant binoculars. These will have a higher resolution than one telescope, even though the technology is already in use.
People will be able to drive with their eyes. You fall asleep, the engine turns off. You move your eyes to the left, you swerve to the left. You squint, your speed increases. Your close your eyes briefly, you brake.
What a world!
televisions with every gadget built into them like phone, Internet, games console etc, probably from Sony, also a new device from trackir which incorporates the trackir 4 pro system with virtual glasses headset so you have REAL surround interaction, look on youtube to see the trackir, alas this is only a hopefull tech for this year.
Well I think that mobile computing and internet access will become very popular. This is largely down to the increase in speed and stability on Wifi and mobile internet browsing. Also smaller more portable laptops will become very popular with business people and those who travel a lot.
I think that TV over the internet will also become huge with TV cards becoming cheaper and internet being able to cope with the speed requirements.
Also I think things like Skype will become a lot more popular for the same reasons as TV over the internet.
This is what I think…interesting to see other responses!
I expect great and wodnerful changes, innovations and improvements upon the exiting technological designs. Where the basic format for domestic necessary and entertainment devices will remain that same, there will be improvement in the sense that are used against the energy they consume, as green-living will become a life-style, or a trend. Our ethical values are changing as the overall set of our values now incorporate greater concerns about a wider environment around us. The concept of ‘my space’ in no longer confined to a house, a street, or an area but the entire globe. Whatever happens in one part of the world in terms of would eventually affect the rest of the environment of the earth. With this in view, I see the following new inventions helping us to modify and change the way we do most ordinary things:
For instance, there will movement sensors set in each television to detect human present in front of the screen. A standard television or a computer screen will automatically be switched off after a certain length of time in a state of not being in use. This will be done by sensing the present of at least one blinking eye within a circular angle of about 150 degrees in front. Then all stereos systems will have sensors to detect vibrations of any eardrum with a certain range, set by the user. One then could easily switch a television on by a mere blink of an eye, i.e. you sit in front of your television and just blink rapidly twice, or you might like to start switch a CD player by turning your ears towards it.
Google “Microsoft Surface”! I’ve watched videos about it and seen it in popular mechanics. It will only be available commercially for a while but it will change how we live our lives! How we order food even! It is surface computing almost like you see on CSI: Miami all the time !
You will probably enjoy “The Gadget Show” when it next comes on Five. It’s a program all about new gadgets and such – look out for it.
If you can’t wait, they have a website and clips on youtube:http://gadgetshow.five.tv/index.htm
Ultra High Definition TV With Over Nine Times The Picture Quality of Full HD.
And LCOS Screens, It Will Replace LCD, Offering Faster Picture Display, Clearer Screens, And More Energy Efficient.
I work in this industry and the new stuff over the coming months will be holographic imagery, images being projected into 3D – its amazing
Think back to Star Wars when R2D2 replays the message from Laya to Luke, well its like that but it actually works!!!!!!
The technology is already in place (Take That used it in their last tour to show Robbie Williams on stage) but they techies have had a problem cooling the dust particles – hence why it has not been released to the public as yet
Also – check out http://www.microsoft.com/surface for their take on things
Look up quantum computing…won’t be ready for 2008 but should be cool.
I think you’ll be sick of geotagging by the end of the year. The devices are becoming multifunctional.
Chevy Volt, Dodge Hornet.
I look at popular science online and cnet.
A 3g iphone, hopfully cars with the same engine size of a moped you drive on an provisional licence which are a lot cheaper than buying a standard car. You can buy them now but its cheaper to buy a 2nd hand conventional car.
Ultra HD is due to be announced within the first quarter of 2008. Hot on the heels of this will be the release of the first Laser TVs which are expected to be unveiled within the second half of the year. So for anyone thinking about buying an HDTV I would strongly sugest waiting as now is not a good time due to the changes in the technology.
Also this year we will see the first Microsoft Surface PCs arriving. Initially the touch screen table top PC will only be available commercially but it is planned that they will be released for home use quite soon.
All in all 2008 will see a lot of change and advancement in modern electrics due to a number of new technologies coming to the fore.
