The reason I ask is my family and I are thinking of going on a cycling holiday to Holland. We would probably want to go to a few historic sites, some nice towns/villages, and maybe a museum or two. Could someone either put a few links to sites, or a list of cool places to go down? Thanks people!

1There is a planner that can help you to find long distance bike routes in the Netherlands, and the rest of Europe.
Here is a link to the English language page with explanation, the planner interface is in Dutch, but that should not be a problem. I know that several English people use it:http://www.fietsrouteplanner.eu/content/…
This is a site with a lot of bike routes, per province, mostly in Dutch but often with a map:http://www.fietspad.nl/Fietsroutes/
And here is a page with cycle routes in English: http://www.fietsen.123.nl/cycle%20routes…
More routes on the same site, but in Dutch: http://www.fietsen.123.nl/fietsroutes.ht…
For where to ride your bike is not as easy.
I am fond of the Noord Holland coastal area, I love riding in the Dunes, (Duinen in Dutch) and also in the Polders (reclaimed land.)
It does give you access to a diverse landscape, rather flat, but not as flat as most of the country.
Say the area Bergen to Haarlem, with my preference north of the Noordzee kanaal.
Many bike routes bring you around the towns, but it is not a problem to just nip in and have a good break there, or to have an overnight stop in a small village, either on a campsite or in a small hotel or ‘bed and breakfast’, (locally advertised as Kamer met Ontbijt or Zimmer Frei in German.)
Most Dutch towns have a museum, even many villages have a museum, if not alway open all week.
But most of the Netherlands have good bike routes and landscapes worth seeing.

2Personal expirience:
From Hoorn to Enkhuizen via the IJsselmeer route.
Great sights, nice ride, and from one nice city to another – with historic and modern relevance.
Hoorn to Amsterdam is also fairly easy to cycle.
You could also ‘break up’ the trip, and take the bikes on the train to another part of The Netherlands, and do cycling in that area as well.
Groningen for example is nice to cycle – very flat.
Our “mountainous” area is in the Maastricht area.
